RELIABLE ROAD TO RECOVERY - JOPLIN MISSOURI

When I turned the news on Sunday evening, May 22nd and saw the initial reports of a tornado hitting Joplin and the tornado warnings in Springfield, I was too preoccupied to comprehend the enormity of what happened.

As the evening wore on and our warnings subsided  the amount of destruction and devastation was evident. The damage reminded me of the recent tsunami damage in Japan and the earthquake in Haiti, it was almost unbelievable.

The following day we had news that a cousin of one of our employees was missing and so now the tornado was hitting closer to home. As reports started coming in from friends and family, we like every other Missourian wanted to do something to help those in need.

Initially, we sent 6,000 bottles of water but felt like we really needed to do more, something bigger, something that could make more of an impact.  We decided the best thing we could do was to raise much needed money while assisting those that needed to replace or repair their vehicles until Joplin’s local dealers could get back on their feet.

Knowing that Joplin’s road to recovery will be long, tedious & painful we decided to have a summer long sales event to support Joplin’s recovery efforts. From June 1st through Labor Day weekend, we intend to donate $100 for every new & used car, truck, van & sport utility retailed. We forecast close to 1,000 sales during those 3 months which will raise almost $100,000! The money will be donated to help rebuild Joplin’s schools, parks or infrastructure as needed. Every customer that purchases a vehicle during this period will be able to specify where they want their money to go, as long as it is not directed to an individual or private enterprise.

We realize that there are many people and/or small businesses that lost everything that might not be insured but our goal is to help Joplin recover as a city, so that in a few short years it will be bigger, better and brighter for all.

Hopefully, by having a summer long sales event it will keep Joplin and their needs in the forefront, until the rebuilding is well underway and Joplin is on their road to recovery.

Our hearts go out to all those who have lost their homes and personal belongings, more importantly, their loved ones. We are thinking of you and we are proud to be able to assist Joplin in their Road to Recovery.
